| I haven’t been able to find a clear answer on this. I know of course that if a vehicle is parked primarily in Fairfax County it needs to be registered, but what if the vehicle spends all but about two month out of state? Our DS has had a vehicle that we own with him in a different state through undergraduate and now graduate school. So, it was parked in VA a couple of summer months at most each year. Could we have dropped the county registration? |

Just re-read my post. To clarify, we don’t own the vehicle with him. He keeps a vehicle with him to use that we own.

Where is the car registered? I am assuming it's to your home address in Arlington. So no, you can't drop the Arlington registration.
Or you can transfer ownership to your DS who can register the car in their college's state for the duration of their time there. |
Fairfax County Thanks. |
| It has to be registered somewhere OP. Unless you are going to register it where he lives, then it must be here. |
