Semester GPA and grade

Hows semester GPA calculated if you get A in one quarter and B in other quarter? Does it stay 4.0 or goes down? Ds is at 4.0 GPA and he will be getting B in one quarter so confused.

He'll still have an A for the semester, so the 4.0 remains the same.
