Kids obsessed with electronics ?

My 9 year old son loves watching TV or playing video games. I hate that he spends so much time looking at a screen dh thinks it's fine I'm about to unplug the whole family and cancel our tv service . Ds has a heck of a time staying focused on task the way it is without constant distractions from electronics . I kinda wonder if he has add or is just a normal kid. He'll start cleaning his room then quit halfway through and go start something else he used to not be this way . Maybe it's just a boy thing his older sister never had these issues anybody else going through this ?

I teach at a preschool and one of our little boys is obsessed with electronics. If any teacher is playing music with their phone, he cannot stop himself from grabbing it. He will reach into our pockets to try to get the phone. However his brain is wired, he just cannot resist electronics.

If your son is similar, I would do strict limits or no screens at all.

It’s the screens. Short attention span unless there is some instant gratification. Difficult to stay focus on something long term especially if there is no dopamine surge

Cut out all screens completely. It wil be difficult 1st few days but then so much better.

My ADHD kid is drawn to screens because they move at his speed - super fast. We have strict limits because he can’t limit himself. The screens don’t cause ADHD; the ADHD caused the screens.
