That's as far as I get before I press the delete button on my answering machine.
How about this? I want DC Councilmembers who don't leave screaming messages on my answering machine. I especially don't want DC Councilmembers or mayors who leave screaming messages on my answering machine about the schools. The schools? Please. You think I'm gonna trust you guys with schools when I can't even get reliable power or water that doesn't contain things DC WASA seems to need to flush out by opening a hydrant in front of my house two or three times a week right as I am trying to hop in the shower before work? I want my trash picked up, my utilities to work, the roads not to suck, and a board of elections that doesn't send out voter registration cards telling me I am now in another ward when I am not. Once you can handle all that, then, and only then, can you talk to me about the possibility that you might be able to educate children. Until then, I will wistfully look across Western Avenue and wonder why I didn't buy a house on the other side so I didn't have to write $50,000 tuition checks every year plus the thousands spent on cars damaged by the roads, back up power generators, and water filters. |
