How best to support non-binary teen

Anonymous
In light of the EO re: only two sexes, how can I best support my non-binary teen?

My kid has been through so much gender identity turmoil and mental health crises over the past several years, and is I hope in a more resilient place, but I’d like advice on what I can do to support them.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Remind them that there are millions of Americans, countless communities, and many states that see them and value them. Yes, federal policies and the people who support them will impact the lives of gender non-confirming people in deeply unfair ways. But the federal government doesn't get to say that people and their allies don't exist.

Where are you? Is there a support group that meets near you?

It’s just government data collection essentially. The government has never been able to define what gender means, masculinity or femininity, for individuals.

I have no idea, but we have a friend with a child like this. Please know that we support you as do a lot of others do too even if it feels so alone right now.

OP here. I’m not a part of a support group. I’m in Montgomery county (Bethesda). I think it’s time for me to find one, welcome suggestions.

Mama bears
Mama dragons (not on Facebook anymore which is a good thing)
These are groups that are vetted where you can find support.
Much better than here
