Compacted math score

I think my 3rd grader map math winter score is high enough to be enrolled into 4th grade compacted math, and I hear it is not a lottery. What is the map winter math score range for compacted math?

There is no official guidance that I've heard of, and I think schools have discretion to identify who they think needs it. Seems to be like most kids are at least the 90th percentile nationally. Talk to your child's teacher, as ultimately they will be making the recommendation.

Most kids are not 90th percentile. It seems like most kids are because the only parents that talk about it are those that have kids with high scores.

Here's my experience - about 90th percentile and up is a definite yes. Then they go lower until they fill one full section.

This is changing. MCPS is identifying fewer students because many struggled with AIM and especially algebra, even pre-pandemic.

Not surprised, but that's dumb because they can place kids in 6+ if they aren't ready for AIM/7+, even after CM.

It's almost all the same stuff anyway.

If a kid is getting an A in CM 5/6 but struggling in AIM, the problem is that CM 5/6 has a bad curriculum/grading standard, not a bad selection criteria. Fix that first.
