Summer Soccer for High Level Players

Anonymous
Doing some Summer planning for my kids. Outside of camps, I was looking for any high level soccer leagues for my kids. Is Super Y the only league available in the DC area? Anyone know of other leagues or options or guest playing opportunities through the Summer months? Thanks in advance.

Super Y is not high level league. Better off doing private training

What’s wrong with Super Y?

There are camps at colleges like UVA and Virginia Tech that have college coaches/scout come.

Hmmm but there is exposure in the tournaments.

Super Y is only as good as the clubs that field the teams. If that club -- or chapter of a club -- is poorly organized, you'll have a mostly bad experience, even if you have a talented team. That's what happened in our case. Was so bad the team didn't come back the next year even though it did well on the field.

It was too hot most of last summer for super y - thx climate change.

There’s nothing wrong with USL Youth (formerly Super Y) if you go in understanding that the competition isn’t always all that great in our division, especially at the older age groups. If you are looking for extra touches in an organized environment with twice a week for practice and 8 games over 6-7 weeks, then it’s good for that. If you want your kids playing in actual games over the summer in a chill environment (you don’t have to be at every game), it’s a good and relatively inexpensive option. My kids have done it the last three summers and even though there were only 1-2 competitive games over the summer, I liked having an easy way for kids to stay in shape while enjoying their summers.

If you can get to finals, you play in Florida in December!

And competition in Florida is better than what you get here. But it’s an expensive trip.

My kids are younger but the experienced parents I am listening to have referenced the following resources for high level players who want to still have fun but compete:

UMD Residential Camp - https://www.marylandsoccercamp.com

Red Bull Residential Camp - https://www.newyorkredbulls.com/youth/camps/residential

One Soccer School East Coast Residential Camp - https://www.onesoccerschools.com/elite-residential-camps/east-coast-brooks-school

Next Star has training daily during the summer with high level players for $50 each session.

Give it a rest. Travelling somewhere costs money. You lot who expect someone/a club to cover the cost for you are ridiculous.

You are probably somewhere moaning, right now, about how you are responsible for paying a car note and rent/a mortgage. "It's not fair. Someone else should be paying it for me."

If you are high level player you would know Super Y is a joke. IF you are high level player you will be training with personal training during the off season.
