Summer school

Anyone roughly remember when summer classes are? This is for a rising junior.

Would be helpful if you identified if you are looking at central online summer school (there is a recent thread about timing of this) or in person summer school (this varies by school).

You can go online and see when it was last year.

Usually right before close of business Friday before Spring break so they don't have to talk to parents calling to ask questions. But this year spring break is late.

Last week of June through first week of August if you do both sessions. Registration opens in late March.

hi! I have a rising Sophomore at BCC. I did call the school but front office told me to have my kid email counselor and she didn't get back to us yet. Main question is does anyone know a general estimate when each session runs? I want my kid to get health for sure and also wondering, has any one had a kid that took a language or math in summer session that counts? thanks!

I don’t think the schools individually offer for-credit classes, so your child wouldn’t take it at B-CC. The classes last year were either online or at Richard Montgomery. All the info is online from last year, and the offerings should be the same this year.

Summer school sessions are 3 weeks long. They have to finish processing report cards before they can roll over to the summer sessions and create the Synergy and Canvas classes. School grades are due by 6/17 and they usually pull data and roll over ~3 working days after that. However, we have make-up snow days until 6/23. They might wait until 6/30 to start summer sessions, but the earliest would be 6/25. The end of summer school is always at least a couple of days before the fall sports practices begin, which this year will be 8/13.

So, block out 6/25-8/12, but hope for 6/30-8/8.

I am a main office HS secretary and I would just have to look it up online , same as you. We are not informed of all the decisions you think we are.

I learn most thing about my school from reading this forum.

You can take any course that Montgomery College offers through dual enrollment program and have it count for your kids hs transcript as far as I can remember. We did this for a math class. Not sure how it works with a foreign language. But is is a quicker class and I am sure there is info missed compared to a year long course but it would check the box so to say. I would want my kid to have a full year for content purposes.
