| Has anyone had any experience with guitar as a fine arts elective at the high school level? I saw they have guitar as a choice at sherwood hs. |

| It depends on the teacher. Supplement with private lessons. |

If taking only to fulfill FA credit, there is no need to get private lessons unless your kid is actually interested. |

| My son liked the course a few years ago. Took it at a different hs. The teacher matters a lot. Have your son ask people who have taken it what teacher is like. |

| My son has taken it at a different high school for 2 years. He’s an advanced player so the teacher lets him work independently. He loves it. |
