Best 3-4 Day Weekend Trip Ideas from DC?

Anonymous
So....with kids graduated and no more college payments...I'd love to take some 3-4 day weekend trips...either DH and I or perhap a first ever girls weekend (never done one) trip. Would love some ideas. Thanks!

St. Barts. Such fun.

Bermuda is a great long weekend trip from DC now that they have nonstop flights again.

Y'all go further for your 3 day weekends than I'm willing to! I was thinking, like, Philly or NY, or Dolly Sods if you're outdoorsy.

NYC or Pittsburgh are about as far as I'd want to go for 3-4 days. There are some neat parts of West Virginia too. If you want to fly, Miami, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Detroit, or Boston. Depends on time of year!

Love St. Barths but it’s a pain to get to with no direct flights. Too much hassle if you only have 3-4 days

+1

my rule is # of days > = # of hours it takes to get there. E.g., NY takes 3 hours, so a trip of at least 3 days/2 nights is appropriate.

Have you explored MD’s Eastern Shore? The Western Shore? The Blue Ridge Mountains? Frederick? Winchester?

It would help a lot to post a budget.

Why? That seems like a very strange rule to me.

Bentonville, Arkansas is a nice long weekend destination. The Crystal Bridges museum is wonderful, there are lots of walking and bike paths/trails, good restaurants, the Walmart museum, and a nice hotel (21c Museum).

This is roughly our rule too. But Bahamas would still work. Also Puerto Rico.

Boston, Chicago, Charleston, Nashville, St Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Colorado Springs, New Orleans….basically any city that you can fly directly to in 3-4 hours.

I’ve never been, but I’d go just to visit Onyx Coffee Lab.

I've been to all of these except Denver. I'd add San Antonio and Minneapolis.
