DD and I are taking a last minute trip to NYC. What is the cheapest way to get broadway tix for Aladdin without excessive fees? or do I chance it and buy it when I get up there at ticket office? |
If you are going to NYC to see Aladdin, why would you chance it? Hitting up TKTS is only for those times when you want to see a show and you don’t care which one.
That being said, there is no way that I’ve ever found to avoid the fees. |
Amex sometimes has broadway ticket discounts. Look on the Amex portal if you have that. |
Go to their website and click the link there so you don't end up with resale tickets.
You can also go to the lottery for $45 dollar tickets. ALADDIN (New Amsterdam Theatre - 214 W. 42nd St. betw. 7th & 8th Aves.) Digital Lottery Price: $45 How: AladdinTheMusical.com/lottery Time: Lottery opens 9 AM day prior to desired performance. Lottery closes 3 PM day the prior to the performance. Payment Method: Credit card ID: Photo ID Tickets Per Person: Limit 2 Seat Locations: Determined at the discretion of the box office; may be partial view Number of Tickets Available: Determined at the discretion of the box office Special Policies: Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Tickets are non-transferable. Tickets must be purchased via credit card within allotted 60-minute window or may be released for general sale. See website for full details. |
But it looks like you can get tickets for some days for $65, so I would just buy those instead of getting a lottery ticket. |
I would not recommend this, but my FIL has TWICE just showed up. He and MIL usually plan for shows when that is a part of their NYC trip but once they were passing through New York and once were in New York for my nephews graduation and just decided to go to a show.
The last time they just went to the theater at showtime and begged. A person in line gave them one ticket and the theater let the other one in free. He’s embarrassing but skwatscgets freebies. My DH on the other hand overpays fir everything, so it evens out ![]() |
You could try to rush morning of as well. |
Actually Broadway Week is next week. Are you going between the 21st and 9th? You can get tickets 2 for 1. |
Just as an aside, I learned during my last trip that if someone gets sick or can’t make their show, at least some theaters will give you up to a year to rebook. Then they sell those tickets to people who walk up right before the show starts. Haven’t don’t this - met someone in a bathroom line who shared this. |
Yup as this person mentioned, it is best to book now to get the dates and show you want for the 2 for 1 ticket prices of Broadway week running from 1/21 through 2/9! I am excited about a couple shows I am seeing next weekend! https://www.nyctourism.com/broadway-week/ |

Bumping for any other suggestions.
Back in the day TKTS was the plan. Did I hear some theatres do day of show rush tickets? |
19:15 back again. Looking for about four to six weeks out. |
Are you going during a peak time? Do you want to see any show? Or a specific show? If you have a specific show in mind, you can try things like the Amex portal and todaystix, but probably you have to just buy tickets. |
If you are seeing a few shows over a long weekend once you buy your first TKTS ticket, you can get in the priority lane the next day, which bypasses the line. |
