A group of us are planning a trip to Spain. One friend wants us to tack a few days in Ibiza onto the trip. She swears there is more to it than drunken British twentysomethings partying all night. Has anyone been at a more seasoned age? Will we be totally out of place? |
There are plenty of the over 40 crowd. Are you into EDM? If not, it's just like any other Spanish island so just go to Fuertaventura instead.
Different parts of Ibiza draw different crowds. San Antonio and Playa d'en Bossa draw the Brits. Ibiza town draws an older crowd. |
Kate Middleton's uncle likes it, and he's old.

I have never been myself and have always wanted to go. I am happy to hear it is fine if you are in your 40s. Definitely on the bucket list now. |
There’s a very high end, expensive part of Ibiza. Is that what she’s into, or is she looking for the clubs? Search luxury boutique hotels Ibiza and you’ll see a lot of nice places |
Watch Below Deck - they go there all the time. It's a major party ! Not for the easily shocked or folks who like to wear a lot of clothes. |
I went in my 20s for the partying - but one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen was the west coast north of Sant Antoni. Take a look at the cliffside hiking and beach coves on Google Maps. |
I recently went to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday. There are so many sides that you won't be out of place - The families, the partiers and the older crowd. We did end up at a party that was way too young for us one night though so just research before you go somewhere to find out the vibe. We loved Formentera. |
But also check out Mallorca or Menorca - it's part of the same island group. Menorca is more wild, Mallorca is big and requires driving, but the calas and little towns are spectacular. |
That is not what the whole island is like. We go every year or two, its relaxing and lot of good food. We do a night or two at the clubs, and take advantage of the clubs that offer cabanas/lougnes, drinks food during the day most days. The clothing isn't any different thatn what you see at most beaches here. Maybe 1 in 20 woman are actually topless on a busy day. |
Agree. Palma de Mallorca also has a party scene (lots of Brits, Scandinavians, etc.) but it’s also a gorgeous island with beautiful landscapes, spectacular towns/villages and a beautiful main town with cathedral, old town, shops, pubs, restaurants, etc… |
Thanks. This and other comments are helpful. |
Lots of drugs at the clubs there |
YES I went I Sep first time as a 45 year old. I am going back. Its the beautiful island I can imagine, the food and culinary options are top class and yes the dancing is fabulous. Its very pricey so prepare for that but we LOVED It. however go outside of July and August. I went late Sep and we swam in the ocean and it was perfect. Jealous! |
