Firehook bakeries all closed?

Stopped by one this morning and was surprised to see they closed all their stores to focus on.....crackers (?). Their crackers were not good!

We got our wedding cake there .

Yeah all closed on Christmas Eve.

Their crackers were flavorless.

I don’t remember where I read this, but some of the former employees may be planning to open a bakery / coffee shop in the Dupont Circle store space.

I had never heard of them, but I picked up a box of their Rosemary and garlic crackers at Giant in December and served them with Boursin and everyone loved them. I tried to buy more, but Giant only has the plain ones now. If they’re going to focus on crackers, they should focus on the good ones.

Wow what a disappointment! They always had great croissants and pastries, at a good price too.

Firehook was awful.

I got a box of their crackers from the Common Market in Frederick a few weeks ago.

Their croissant sandwiches were good too.

I think that their recipes changed a bit over the years (not as good), but I very much thought that in the 2000s-2010s, they had some of the best baked goods in the city. I very much loved a grape foccacia that I would often get for breakfast (until they changed their recipe to one not as good). Their soups (the lentil!) and sandwiches were quite good. Cookies, brownies, scones, breads... all delicious.

The cookies were hit or miss, but they were awesome when they were a hit.

Interesting, because I’ve been seeing their crackers nonstop at grocery stores lately!

Their chocolate almond croissants were the best.
