Where can my 10 year old play real volleyball?

He’s played rec which was a complete joke and he’s done some clinics and they are pathetic. He is way ahead developmentally but seems there are no boy leagues for his age anywhere around here. What are his options from now until he’s in MS and can join a club?

Clubs for girls that age are finally starting to show up in the area. I haven’t seen clubs for boys that age around.

Europe? Seriously around here i think the options for men’s volleyball are pretty slim. Maybe he could play on an adult rec team? Some of them are better than others.

I honestly might reach out to any men’s college programs you can find in the vicinity and see what they recommend.

Where are you located, OP? Try Maryland Volleyball Program. They have a U12 boys team with some players who are around 10.

^ I just sorted and it seems the elementary levels only have beginner teams. It is still worth contacting them to see if these teams are more advanced than the local rec options.

Our team never had boys on its roster, but we played against teams that included boys. Generally speaking, they were stronger, but less skillful than the girls. I guess the boys are not allowed to play on girls teams once they get too strong and can do some damage. looks like the line was drawn arbitrarily at 13.

This is the same situation with girls on baseball teams. Many teams at that age have no girls, but there are a significant number of teams with one or two girls, and they are scrappy! I honestly don't think it will be odd for him if he loves the sport and is good at it.
