Miami/Keys hotel recommendations

Anonymous
We are planning a last minute trip over President's Day weekend to Florida. Looking for recommendations for resorts in Miami or the Keys that would be good for a family of 4 - kids 10 and 14. We are looking for fairly luxe (4 or 5 star) accommodations with good pools and close to other activities. Thank you!

Cheeca Lodge is pretty nice

If you want beaches, then Miami. The Keys don't have much in the way of beaches.

Someone on another thread just said they were not impressed with Cheeca. Very crowded.

Any specific hotel recommendations? Is South Beach ok for goods or better to save for when it's just adults?

I went to South Beach 2 years ago for 3 days. I thought, overall, it was a dump. The beach is decent but the crowd it attracts isn’t the greatest. Two nice hotels there are the Fontainebleau and the Ritz Carlton. If you go to the north end of Miami Beach there is another Ritz Carlton and the Saint Regis Bar Harbour. These are very, very nice hotels and a much better location for families. There is also yet another Ritz in Key Biscayne that I’ve heard is nice.
