I know that a lot of schools are going through it now. Is it going well? My DD will go through it next year and I’ve heard it is tough at the school she is going to (Indiana). |
It's tough everywhere, OP.
The universal problem at every school is that all of the girls rushing want the same top, few sororities. If she can be happy anywhere, you'll be fine. If your daughter insists on being an XYZ, she's likely to be disappointed. |
You are paying OOS dollars for Indiana you already failed. |
The poster who said encourage her to be happy with any sorority is correct. You are likely to find your friends in most groups if you are willing. |
It’s universally an awful experience, but if your kid can be happy at the least desirable house, it will be okay. Just know that being happy with 9 of the 10 options is still not a “good enough” attitude toward it and posters here will insult you and your kid. |
Depends on the girl and any hooks she has. |
Bad for my dd. It’s tough if you don’t have older siblings/family members who paved the way or didn’t go to a feeder school. |
What kind of hooks? |
Connections, whether she is a legacy, older girls from her high school who can vouch for her, at some schools, being on the dance/cheer team is an advantage. |
Pretty, uber rich, skinny |
How would ppl even know if you are rich? |
This is so messed up. Glad my daughters are completely uninterested in Greek nonsense. |
Where you went to high school, what you’re wearing, where you spent Winter break… not hard to discern. |
Hmmm. Interesting. |
Two out of three are often enough. |
