I’m a 40F. I’ve had and struggled with rosacea for almost 8 years now. I did the whole derm visit and prescription antibiotics and creams thing. I was fortunate to get the rosacea under control and now have a good and stable routine which doesn’t upset my skin.
BUT I have some underlying redness and some minor broken capillaries around my nose which I’d like to get rid of. After hitting 40, anti-aging is becoming more of a concern as well. I am planning to visit a derm and get advice but I wanted to ask those of you who have struggled with rosacea, have you found any cosmetic procedures that have helped? How long did it take for you to see a difference? Did all the redness go away as a result? |
| I did IPL a few times, a series of 3 to start and then as needed (1 to 2 times a year) as I see some redness creep back in. I am also on metrogel and the combo seems to work for me. |
| I’m getting BBL done. I compared it with IPL and thought it seemed more effective and less expensive for me. |
| NP. Not me, but a friend had her rosacea clear up entirely when she started Wegovy. This was before she lost any significant weight, too. Her doctor told her he has now seen it multiple times. It makes me think that rosacea might be related to some sort of underlying blood sugar/inflammatory issue. |
It is an inflammatory disease |
| You can look for a dermatologist that has a laser for redness. |
| BBL (or IPL). you may need a few treatments the first year and once per year after that. IPL is good if redness is your only issue. BBL is good if you also have brown spots/age spots. I love what it has done for my redness. |
| Vascular laser works very well for this |
i wonder if there are certain foods one doesn't eat on wegovy (dairy comes to mind) |
| BBL - short for Broadband light( the Sciton laser version of IPL). Sciton is considered the gold standard in the laser industry. I’d look up a derm or plastic surgeon who has the machine and have them/ their esthetician perform the treatment. You’ll need a series of 3-4 treatments. |
| NP. I had a rosacea flare last year when I started a new medication and while I now have everything under control, I have a couple broken caps on my cheeks. How much do these laser treatments cost? |
300-400 per treatment. |
?? Dairy isn’t forbidden on Wegovy whatsoever? |
| V beam laser has worked well for me. Got rid of the capillaries but also reduced flushing episodes a ton. I think I've had 4 treatments over the past 6 years and rarely even think about my rosacea anymore. |
| V beam is the right answer |
