Thanks, Janeese. |
No it’s true. Elite private school families haven’t had a voice in the mayor’s office. It’s about damn time! |
Is this how GDS got top dollar by selling their ES to DCPS that is now McArthur HS. It was not a great location for a DCPS HS but DC Gov insisted it had to be that particular property. And there was no negotiation. DC offered full price even though there were no other offers. Very shady of McDuffie. Clearly divided loyalties. |
It was a deal we couldn’t refuse and probably screwed the taxpayers. I’m still for Kenyon “GDS” McDuffie. |
Touche! I'm the PP who made that original suggestion. Didn't realize there would be so much pearl clutching. Some people hate driving in traffic (and there will be traffic) more than biking in the rain, and it's much easier to unload kids from a bike than a car, especially at places like Yu Ying, which are a drop-off nightmare (heard about it for years from friends). I personally would not do this myself, but I know people who do it and enjoy it. You really wouldn't do it for how it looks or others' opinions, because obviously you'll get more judgment than accolades. The risk partially depends on which route you might take, MBT is a safer choice for example, if your school is on it. In any case, I just felt bad for OP and wanted to bring up another option. Definitely not for everyone. But I can understand not looking forward to the driving. |
That’s ok but if he wins don’t complain. It will be Bowser 2.0. He doesn’t give a damn about public schools. His main thing is big business. |
You did not refute anything. Just like GDS DUFF. |
My man. |
I am very pro-charter, but completely agree that people will flee and chaos will ensue with a citywide lottery. It would probably even lead to worse outcomes across the board. That being said, if DCPS can’t even offer one city-wide immersion elementary school, perhaps at Dorthy Height, then I say bring on the chaos because DCPS doesn’t believe in equal opportunity access to their programs. Seems like a violation of the law to me and they deserve the chaos. DCPS should just provide equal opportunity to specialized programs and mitigate one of the reasons for a citywide lottery for all seats. Is that so difficult? |
It will be a big win for big business and the private schools network. |
| Darling Duffie is on the GDS board. |
People on the far left believe test-in schools are racist because they end up being dominated by white and Asian students. |
Just Asians really. Let’s not pretend they don’t have real separation from white folks when it comes to test scores. But I’m all for Asians having the test-in schools that reward hard work, while the rest of us can cruise through at GDS with Duffie and crew. We don’t want to compete! |
I'm Asian and I want this as well. |
I’m not Asian or white, but I tell the truth! |
