Vermont trip, scenic, romantic

Any suggestions for a spring or fall Vermont trip- a beautiful scenic town and fancy hotel or resort? Doesn’t need to be Four Seasons or anything on that level but worth going to. Not going to ski!

Spring in VT wouldn't be my first choice, unless you're talking about super late - like mid-May.

Check out Woodstock - I haven't stayed there, but have heard good things about the Woodstock Inn.

Agree that spring is not a good idea but late may is probably fine. When in Fall?

Agree that Stowe and Woodstock are good places for first trips to Vermont.

Are you driving or flying? From DC?

Consider Shelbourne farms! It's a working farm on a former Vanderbilt property, but also has a fancy inn right on Lake Champlain. The food there is delicious and the place is within easy range of Stowe, Burlington, Woodstock and all those areas.

Vermont in the Spring is a bad idea.

Woodstock and the Woodstock Inn are quintessential Vermont. I was there last week and it was fully decorated for Christmas. People also rave about the Jackson but I haven't stayed there.

South Manchester is also nice. the Equinox is pretty decent. I'd look for a high end Inn or B&B though.

Stowe is a cute town. The ski resort is a few miles outside town. If you like the Sound of Music the Von Trapp Lodge is fun, although not totally luxurious (it needs an upgrade IMO).
