Roanoke College

Why is this college never discussed on here?

I’ve heard of it but have never met anyone here in NOVA who attended. Seems pretty, though

Never heard of it.

sub 1400 SAT, high acceptance rate, low graduation rate, 20:1 student to faculty ratio while being a private school, ranked outside of the t100 on Forbes and US News's LAC rankings

We visited it and the campus is cute but Roanoke/Salem is average. For the price, MW, CNU or Longwood seem like better options.

Why does any of this matter?

Isn’t Roanoke College and the area nicer than the state schools you listed? Why would a state school be better?

So true, who would choose state schools (yuck) like UVA and William and Mary over private schools (elite) like Hollins and Mary Baldwin! State schools are so icky!

That may depend on your income. The kids I know at Roanoke have a combination of financial aid and merit aid that makes it cheaper than the schools you mention. If your income is high, or your kid is near the bottom of the stats they accept, that may not be true for you.

The kids I know there are having a good experience.

Why is Longwood, MW or CNU better than Roanoke?

My colleagues son went there. He did well with the small classes and down to earth students. Pretty campus from her photos.
