I ended up getting pneumonia (viral) over the holidays and it kicked my ass. I haven’t been able to do anything for two weeks, and I am still coughing. I am open to suggestions on how to get back in shape, and how long will it take to get back to my fitness pre-pneumonia. |
Just give it time. Go back when you feel better. |
I asked my doctor for some prescription cough medicine after I had Covid with a lingering cough of several weeks, and a couple nights using it helped get me to 100%. |
I had to get inhalers prescribed. I was winded and could barely make it back from the bus stop for a couple weeks after. It’s been 3 months and I’m still not 100 percent but much better and improving gradually. I make myself walk everyday, to the point of being winded and tired but not exhausted. Trying to push myself but not overdo it. I do think it’s helping. I take breaks if I need them and monitor my heart rate to make sure I’m not overdoing it. |
It took me 4 months to get back to 100%. |
OP, here. I am going for a slow 5 km run for the first time since Dec 26. It will give me an idea about the state of my lungs. Wish me luck! |
Do NOT do this. It hasn’t been a month. Pneumonia is not like a cold or the flu. It literally take a month of REST to recover. Go for a walk. But running/jogging less than three weeks out? Yeah no. You can recover the right way or you can have a set back. It’s up to you. |
Thank you for the caution. I really needed to move for my own sanity. I ran very slow 6mi/hr), and my lungs felt okay. |
