We have decided to do a short trip to VA Beach for spring break- only 2 or 3 nights. We know it will be too cold for swimming but it will cheaper and change of scenery will be nice. I am going crazy looking at hotel photos to find one with a great indoor pool. Any recs? This is for 6 and 9 year olds. Even better if the hotel has suites with separate rooms, and in room kitchenette would be awesome! FWIW we are also considering the Hilton in Ocean City but it seems like VA beach has more to do off season? Thank you! |
Hilton Garden Inn. Right on the beach, indoor pool, kitchenettes. I like VA Beach! Have dinner at waterman’s and take the kids to lunch at the Shed. The aquarium is great, too. |
Good children’s museum in Portsmouth if you have young kids.
Contemporary art museum in Va beach sometimes has good exhibits. Not a big place, short little stop. Chrysler Museum in Norfolk is great - super docent lead tours. They have a glass blowing studio that is fantastic and some activities you can pay for and help make a piece. But it won’t be ready for a few days so do it at the beginning of your trip or ask how long turn around is. Nautilus Museum down there is good too. |
Ew. You really want to swim in an indoor pool at a chain hotel in Virginia Beach?! |
Virginia Marine Science Museum is worth visiting. |
There aren't any with amazing indoor pools.
We had a really nice vacation at the Holiday Inn North Beach when we had small children. |
Residence Inn on the Boardwalk. Not a fantastic pool but it serves the overall purpose. Unless you choose Williamburg where there is Kings Creek with a nice indoor pool or another one of the timeshares you can rent. |
This is where we go too. |
Don't knock it till you've tried it. Great for mobility challenged members of multi-generational families. Name a better beach for that near here. |
The Caviller has a nice indoor pool and rates are cheap in the off season. The Emabssy Suites as the in room kitchenette but the room and pool are more basic. |
