Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| My husband and I just moved to the Shirlington/Fairlington area. We're on a pretty tight budget, but like to get out for dinner when we can. Any suggestions for good affordable dining in Arlington or Alexandria? Thanks! |

Pupatella for brick-oven pizza.
Ray's Hellburger and Ray's the Steaks. Rockland's for BBQ and a beer. Super Pollo or Crisp & Juicy for Peruvian Chicken. El Charrito Caminante for Salvadoran soft tacos and pupusas. Delhi Club for Indian. Northside Social for coffee and breakfast. Bakeshop for really fantastic cupcakes. Wish I could recommend that old Arlington standby--Lost Dog--but the food at both locations has been sooo bad lately. |
| Fantastic...thanks for all the recs! |
| haven't tried it yet but always see a lot of people in there - Fairlington Pizza |

The PP forgot Moby Dick in Clarendon. Yum. Their kabobs are delicious and their rice is addictive. I think they put crack in it. Also Kabob Palace in Crystal City.
Delhi Dhaba in Courthouse. (also love Delhi Club.) Spider Kelly's for half-price burgers on Tuesdays or Whitlows for half-price burgers on Mondays. Hard Times chili in Clarendon. (great if there are games on, too.) Cafe Asia in Rosslyn for cheap sushi at happy hour and reasonably priced Asian fusion food at other times. (I like the chicken penang curry and the very generous half-portion of Asian salad.) (PP- Bummer about Lost Dog/Stray Cat - their sandwiches used to be a staple of my diet.) |
| Ravi Kabob on Glebe Road in Buckingham is WAY better than Moby Dick. And less expensive! |

No one mentioned Guajillo (Mexican)! It's in Rosslyn and OMG so delicious. Their enchiladas are basically amazing and like $13, and if you go during the week for lunch, the lunch specials are fantastic and $7 or $8. I go there probably once a week.
The sangria is not as budget friendly but it is so good too! |

Since you are in Fairlington, have you checked out Atlantis or The Pastry Shop in the Bradlee shopping center?
Atlantis is definitely nothing fancy, but they have great gyros and I think their burgers are pretty good, too. The Pastry Shop has delicious sandwiches. I am also a big fan of Edy's, on route 7 in Bailey's Crossroads (right across the street from Target). They have great Peruvian chicken -- get the white sauce! |

Love Edys!
Also, love Ravi. We also love Clare and Don's but it is in Falls Church! But we enjoy the atmosphere there. |
| Layalina on Wilson for Syrian/Lebanese mezze. |
