What do you ES kids do these extra snow days ?

Anonymous
My kids are bored while I try to wake up early to finish work early. I am done with sledding the last 2 days for an hour before sun goes down. I think tofay snow is more wet and messy to go sledding. I want to steal ideas what your ES kids do at home these few days. I plan to entertain them while I work, and take them out once I am done at 3pm today.

The novelty is definitely beginning to wear off. It playdates are key for us. Sledding, baking, crafts, games. And too much screen time.

Yes, I'm out of ideas. Sledding again. I thought about a day trip but really have to work after 2.5 week winter break.

Agree on playdates with walkable classmates. Gives parents a break on childcare too.

Put away the Christmas tree, academic skills workbooks, shoveling (we have a small kid sized shovel).

A couple hours of sledding, a couple hours of TV, and fill in the rest with reading books she got from Christmas. It hasn't been too bad.

I would love my kids to have playdates, but I cannot host while I work from home. I don't dare to ask if someone wants to host....urggggg

I don't know. I've had to work, so presumably they've been watching youtube mostly. Though, I did catch my 7-year-old somehow watching the Gladiator movie, which seemed like an odd choice. I don't know if he was Entertained.

It's like lord of the flies over here. My kids' brains are fried, I'm barely getting any work done, all the food I bought over the weekend is gone, and so is my wine.

**fried from TV/screens, I should add.

They have been at a sleepover , which is pretty ridiculous because the parents are driving everywhere and the buses cant?

How old are they?
Kids play pretty independently. They have new toys and access to our family room television (no personal devices). Nintendo switch is set up in there too.
I think part of the problem is that kids are so over scheduled that they don’t know what to do with free time. This results in parents feeling like they need to provide the entertainment. My kids know that they are responsible for their time, not me.

We have a nice hill in our backyard so the kids sled on it while I drink coffee and read in my living room. I turn on the Ring camera on my phone if I need to walk away.

Tell them to go play with their toys! Jfc!!! When I was younger (90s) we didn’t go anywhere for break and didn’t have playdates during snow days. Let the kids get creative. You don’t have to entertain them every minute.
