Battery operated pen in vent

Anonymous
My brother smokes and he was warming his pot pen near the vent and he stopped short and it got stuck. He somehow pushed it in the vent instead of getting it out while he was in a panic trying to get it out. This happened over the weekend and he hasn’t had to drive it with the weather.

Will this be an easy fix? Assume they just need to open the vent?

It is expensive to access the vents, they have to remove the whole dash.

Hopefully this will incentivize him to stop smoking how dumb all around

Lol I don't think he stopped short and accidentally pushed it in while panicking...if he is that jerky and anxious he probably needs to stop driving anyway. More likely is that he is stupid and wanted to see if he could get pot to come out the vents. It will be an expensive lesson for him.

The universe is sending him a message.

How much would it be to fix this? 500? 1000? Anyone have an estimate?

Probably 500, though the risk is that there’s damage or debris in other parts, and thus requires more extensive exploration. Unfortunately, this is not a clear diagnostic effort, like replaces the speedometer, which they know the work involved and the part costs.

Probably depends on the car, some vents take just 2 minutes to remove. Can you still see the pen?
