Given that it is now a federal holiday? |
No |
Did you get a message? Can you please expand a bit? I am trying to plan in advance. Thank you |
They would have announced it already. And no. |
DC gov is open as usual. Schools will be open as usual. |
Eaton is the closest public school to the cathedral and we just got word that school is open on Thursday despite the road closures and heavy traffic. |
Our DCPS sent out a message that schools are open since the DC Gov is open. |
No- schools en masse will not close. Some may have delays or close based on proximity to the events, but schools have to make these days up so they aren't going to close only to have to go later in June. Most schools already have to make up one or two days and it is only January... |
I don’t believe any DCPS schools are planning on having delays or closing based on proximity. |
Yeah. As mentioned above, Eaton is the closest public school to the Cathedral and is opening on time tomorrow. |
They closed twice in mid-January last year and didn't make them up but if they close a bunch they'll probably have to make some of them up. |
It's not a real federal holiday; the federal government is closed in honor of Carter, but DCPS is not a federal agency, and the rest of the world is going to go on as if there was nothing happening.
There is absolutely no reason to close all the schools citywide to honor a president who left office before (a) every student and (b) probably most teachers and parents of DCPS kids were born. (At least, that's what this DCPS parent who was born before Carter was elected thinks.) |
