What's the biggest lie you've ever told?

Me first: After college, my boyfriend and I wanted to drive across country together. Except that my parents are very religious so I told them another friend was coming too. It was a two month trip, and my mom still thinks there were three people in the car.

In my defense, I was young, and stupid, but I still feel bad about it.

In college I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband). I told my parents that we were just friends and were getting a two bedroom apartment, which we did, but the extra bedroom was an office

Similar to PPs - My boyfriend and I shared an apartment for a whole year. The roommate in the dorm room my parents were paying for was pretty happy she got a single! I told my parents that the roommate had a cell phone (uncommon in those days) and therefore didn't want to pay half of a landline, and I didn't want to pay the whole cost. That's why they couldn't call me in my room. AND, I did an internship in another state for a summer, telling my parents I was living with a friend. My boyfriend worked for the same firm, and we were shacked up together in the friend's sister's place, while the sister was on a short-term deployment. The boyfriend and I got married, but I've still never 'fessed up to my parents about that year.

That's the second biggest lie. The biggest one, I will never tell another soul.

My older sister once asked me to lie for her to our parents. She was supposed to be babysitting me but wanted to go out with some of her girlfriends instead. She wanted me to lie to them about her whereabouts when they called. I was confused and scared to be left home alone and to be asked to lie, but, when they called, I told them she was in the shower and couldn't come to the phone. And, they bought it! Years later, at my sister's wedding (I was maid of honor and gave the speech), I fessed up. Luckily, my parents just laughed ....

If that's your biggest lie you're either a Pollyanna or a saint.
