I booked a hotel known for its views. When I arrived, there was construction going on in front of the hotel, with a massive crane directly in front of my balcony. When I objected to being charged the full amount, due to noise and obstruction of the view, the hotel owner basically told me to piss up a rope. Is there any recourse here? Thank you. |
Dispute the charge with your credit card company. Loser though. |
Would you be able to take and post photos with your review and paid price of room?

Who is doing the construction? The hotel? |
If the owner refused a discount they are definitely going to challenge a dispute. And I think it'll be hard for OP to win. She used the hotel for what it's designed for. It's not like she wasn't able to sleep in the room or anything because of said construction. She just wasn't able to enjoy the view as she saw fit. You were still able to see some of the view around the crane I would imagine. |
FFS no. You are not entitled to an unobstructed view. |
A hotel doesn't own the adjacent properties. They can't control that. And I have never been to a halfway decent hotel that in some way, shape or form that construction was going on. |
No this is happened to me before. Same response from management. |

I think it depends on if this is a large chain hotel, or something smaller Did you pay for a premium view? I think you could probably get that portion refunded. If it’s a Hilton or something, they might give you some points for a future stay. |
if you paid extra for a room with a particular view, you should at least get compensated the difference between the premium you paid and the price of a regular room. If you didn't pay extra, I don't think you have any recourse. |
+1. You only have a case if they charged extra for a view room. |
Rather then trying to get a refund why didn't you request a different room, often they will upgrade you for free. But it sounds like you were being an ass. |
How so? |
