Arlington snow plowing

I am looking at the map and while I understand why our street is low priority it is disheartening to see only 2 plows within a mile while most are over north of Wilson in the richer N Arlington areas.

Our landscapers showed up, took them an hour since nothing is plowed well around Bluemont.

Where do you need to go so badly that it can't wait until tomorrow? Are you concerned you will have a medical emergency? Everybody should be plowed by tomorrow.

Yeah I am concerned about medical emergencies including falls. We are in our 70s.
Also medical appointments later in the week. Do you want to lay odds "everybody" will be able to get to a major street like Wilson, Glebe, Washington, George Mason without 4wd tomorrow?

Why are landscapers working in January?

Yes you will be fine by tomorrow afternoon, as far as the public streets go. I don't know your driveway situation but I assume your landscapers came over to shovel or plow your driveway.

I like the names for the snow plows. Snowprah Winfrey, Sabrina Carpenbrr, ...

To clear the snow

I live on a small street in North Arlington that the county literally does not plow. It’s so low priority that they just never get to it before the snow thaws, even if it takes 4-5 days for the snow to thaw. So it could be worse, OP, and it’s not all about north or south.

I live on a street like that yes in N Arlington. We might be neighbors, lol.
A decade or more ago they never plowed they threw out sand and salt and you had to wait for it to melt. OP

I asked this same question, OP. I checked the map twice and saw plenty of plows up in the northern most section of Arlington that has the lowest population density. The county should prioritize roads that serve the most people per block.

Is that the part of the County where most of the plows are stored? Maybe I am hallucinating, but I thought I drove by a large county facility/surface lot up that way that had a lot of vehicles.

The street might be too narrow for the plow

I used to live on a street like that. One neighbor invested in a good snow blower and would have the entire street clean within a few hours of when the snow stopped.

Garbage trucks and huge construction material trucks make it.

I'm in Bethesda, MD, on a narrow one-lane street and it gets plowed reasonable quickly because it's in the downtown. Maybe you should call the local government so they add your street to the drivers' list? There must be an error somewhere if it gets left out systematically.
