When did you get your first period after birth?

My DC is almost 12M, and I still haven’t gotten it. I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding. Will I get it when I start weaning? I’m not complaining per se, but I’d like to start tracking cycles and eventually conceive #2. It took awhile ti conceive #1, hence my interest…

13 months, when I was down to 2 nurses/day.

With my first 2 I got my period before my 6 week check up and was exclusively breastfeeding. With my third I was also exclusively breastfeeding but it did not come back. Number 4 was born 14 months after #3 and I got it back 2 months after birth.

Everyone is different. I know people who had to wean to have another one and I know people who got pregnant while still breastfeeding. Since you're nearly at 12 months you can start tapering off and your kid should be just fine. My son started losing interest in nursing around 15 months and I rode that disinterest down because if my son was anything like his cousins, I knew he'd be very tough to wean older.

18 months, but I was still breastfeeding.

20 months, when DS finally started to sleep at night. But I was also on the mini pill, so that may have impacted me as well.

6/7 months when my kids were eating solid foods.

All three times mine came back around 9-10 months, while I was still breastfeeding. I was able to conceive while breastfeeding, around 14-17 months with my oldest two. I have friends who couldn’t conceive until they totally weaned though, even though their period came back. Also have friends who got pregnant again before their period returned.

6 months, 6 weeks (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), 6 months

Is your baby night weaned?

Have you taken a pregnancy test? #1 cause of missing period in a reproductive aged woman is pregnancy

yes, I got it back at 6wks while BFing too

The you can't get PG for 6mo while breastfeeding is horrible advice, borderline malpractice

Within 3 months each time, despite exclusively breastfeeding.

Yes, maybe take a home pregnancy test. Also remember that past a certain stage of pregnancy, some home pregnancy tests suffer from the hook effect and can be negative because there's too much HCG. So maybe also do bloodwork.

12 months almost to the day with both children even though one child was weaned and the other was still exclusively nursing including at night. It’s like my body had a timer.

OP here. Thanks all. I have not night weaned because DC wakes up in the middle of the night at least once but usually twice to feed/be soothed. I took a pregnancy test just now, and it was negative. I plan to gradually start weaning after DC's first birthday so I no longer have to pump at work. If I need to totally wean to start ovulating again, I will cross that bridge in the coming months...
