Take full year online PE Pass/Fail

Anonymous
Has anyone been able to take full year online PE as Pass/Fail. It seems like they should be allowed to but I wonder if there is pushback.

Thanks.

You can but there is no reason to. It’s an easy A.

Actually, I take that back. If you are worried about an “A” hurting your kid’s GPA go ahead and do it. The colleges will all know you are trying to game with system, though. They unweight everyone’s GPA with only core classes (bad not PE). Your little game won’t work.

Sorry you’re in such a terrible mood. I hope you enjoy the snow
I actually wanted my kid to take it P/F to eliminate stress. She’s very busy and knowing that she doesn’t have to be perfect and get an A on every assignment would destress the whole thing.

It’s basically a participation class - there are no “assignments.” It’s actually a nice class to have in the midst of the other tough classes. There is no stress in regards to assignments with PE. It is an easy A so she won’t need to stress about it.

I’m in a great mood! Absolutely no one stresses about PE and you get an A for showing up. There are no assignments.

Based on your defensive response, I think I’m spot on in suggesting you don’t want an A in a non honors class to bring your kid’s GPA down. Not to worry, colleges will unweight your kid’s GPA to compare easier. And they won’t be including PE.

PE is a waste of time. Knock it out in the summer and save your time during the school year for a real class.

And yes you can take one class per year pass/fail - you just have to have the pass/fail paperwork completed by you and your guidance counselor BEFORE the class starts.

My kid is taking online PE now (full year) and I wouldn't call is an easy A. Students are required to log in with their cameras on during class times and complete assignments, which include discussion board posts and workouts that meet specific time and heart rate requirements. Honestly, it’s a bit more work than some in-person classes. I am not saying it is a hard A but does require consistent effort.

Absolutely no one is or was talking about the online version of PE. OP is talking about the actual physical class at school, but taking it P/F. That class is very easy. Much easier than the online one.

Hate to break it to you - but admissions officers know exactly what you’re doing when you take PE P/F and see all other classes that are mostly honors or APs with As. They are still going to just take the core classes and unweight them to be able to compare GPAs among kids in different counties or states. For example, my nephew’s private school gives no added weight for honors or AP classes.

People, I’m OP and the literal title of the thread is ONLINE pe. Calm down. There are assignments and it is a pain. Not hard, but an extra thing over your head. It’s not my first kid to take online PE, we just hadn’t thought about the P/F option. Chill out people.

And that’s fine. But I also know that an AP can give my kid college credit.

Ok. I missed that. In that case, yes I would absolutely take it P/F.

Hi!
Can I ask if anyone knows the actual class meeting time on each Monday (late afternoon? early evening?), for this FCPS full year online PE class?
I can't seem to find this bit of information anywhere.
Thank you!
