Upcoming snow storm and DCA flight cancellations

Anonymous
Curious what everyone thinks the impact of this storm will be on flights coming into/leaving DCA over the next few days. Will everything be canceled/at least delayed? If so, for how long? The snow is supposed to stop falling Monday night.

Probably widespread cancelations tomorrow. Maybe half the flights go on Tuesday.

Your airline's website should say if you can reschedule for free.

Because the storm is limited in scope (it's a very narrow range north to south), should be pretty easy for airlines to keep most airports outside of the storm operating normally. Agreed most Monday flights probably cancelled. But I'll bet by Tuesday they will be able to get planes in quickly and operate close to a normal schedule. First thing Tuesday outgoing flights might be most likely to cancel.

But obviously check status directly.

Was just looking at the DCA flight tracker and for now things still look good. But there are already a few cancellations and delays related to airports further west in the storm track like Kansas City, St Louis, Cincinnati, etc. I think Kansas City airport is closed now, which is probably a good indicator of what things are going to be like here tomorrow.

I don't know. I'm supposed to fly out Monday afternoon for a settlement conference. I'm guessing that won't be happening, but we'll see. All we can do is wait and see.

Sons flight from LA today just got cancelled.

So you're supposed to wait until they cancel your flight before you can get a reschedule for free?

No. Airlines issue change waivers like this on American.

I have already seen some cancellations on American and Delta ( friend flying back to Cincinnati from DC. Depends on where you're going and your airline.

My American flight through DCA tomorrow (BTV > DCA > DFW) was just canceled. They rebooked me going through CLT now.

Probably the relatively best time for a storm- early January -mid February is lowest time of the year for bookings nationally. More open seats to move people into than if it was a week ago

I’m in Tampa now trying to get home and Southwest cancelled my flight. I’m confirmed on an American flight later today and am crossing my fingers it goes out.
