I am worried that my family's connecting flight may get cancelled tomorrow and we could get stuck in Houston. DH and I can work from there for a day or two but we will have two kids (15 and 13) who we will want out of our hair. does anyone know if any hotels near a multiplex/mall or another place tweens could go explore that is not that far from the airport? Or should we just find an airport hotel with a pool? In my head I have dreams of a Houston version of the Radisson hotel at Mall of America. I figure the weather in Houston is miserable for much of the year so am hoping there might be some good indoor options. |
Hotel + a pool is your best option or a movie. Houston is awful. |
Houston is fun! Stay near the Museum District - your teens will like the Hotel ZaZa.
Don't stay downtown, don't stay near the Galleria. The fun trendy places are near the Museum District, Rice Village, and Montrose. |
(If you insist on a mall, then fine, go to the Galleria)
Nothing is near either airport. |
The Post Oak hotel is one of the best if you can swing it. Great pool and facilities. Houston has fantastic food- tex Mex, steak, etc. It's pretty boring overall-maybe look into any events that are going on? Shopping is superb- check out the River Oaks district |
Stay near Rice village or museum district. Great food all over Houston and great museums. |
It’s going to get into the 30s in Houston the next couple of days. Don’t stay in a hotel expecting to use the pool. The ZaZa in the Museum district might be a good choice, as they could walk to several different museums.
Houston is not a tourist destination and not known as a fun place to visit. It’s also not walkable. Other than staying by the Galleria for shopping, your best bet is the museum district. |
I agree with the ZaZa in the Museum District. It’s a fun, funky hotel in a nice area. |
