MCPS Public Charter

Does anyone know anything about the MECCA MCPS Public Charter starting up in 2025? It looks like it is starting with middle school age students. I didn’t know it existed until I saw an advertisement on the back of a public bus. thanks!

Isn't that on the charter school? Not sure it it on MCPS to advertise other schools.

Website seems super sketchy. Annoying design, and all the human leadership roles seem to be vacant and recruiting. Who are these people?

MCPS is helping them with staffing?

MBLI is collaborating with the MCPS Office of Human Resources and Development to recruit dedicated, innovative educators and staff for our launch in Fall 2025.

Yes saw the email about it. It was also included on the Middle School Special programs page. That said, I do feel they should have been doing a lot more reach out. Right now everything on there site, while informative, seems more like a sale pitch than targeted advertising for a school and parent/student specific audience.

All charter schools are sketchy. For every successful one, there are 25 that are a disaster.

I mean, what do you consider "notified?" It was in the Board Meeting Update, and in the Thursday Things to Know, and in the materials distributed to 5th grade families. Did you need an owl to drop the information on your doorstep?
