What is the deal with Fenbendazole ( panacur) for cancer use?

Is it a crazy internet thing that is popping up on pet pages- part of the crazy alternative network or is there anything to it?

Sounds ridiculous, actually.

Sounds kooky— but we gave it to our dog when he developed osteosarcoma at age 6. This type of cancer is almost certainly fatal in dogs — something like a 90% chance they’ll be dead in 6 months, even with surgery. It’s been a year, and he is still alive with no sign of cancer. We used it in conjunction with some other anti-inflammatory supplements, so it’s hard to say which one helped the most, or if he was just in the 10% where surgery was enough.

FWIW, our vet didn’t bat an eye when we told her our plan of action. She’s not particularly pro-alternative health, but supports the use of supplements over medication for certain ailments. I was expecting some pushback or skepticism.
