Jewish Preschool in Bethesda / Potomac / NW DC

Anonymous
DH and I are relocating from California to the DMV this summer and we would like to enroll our 2.5 year old (will be 3 in August) in a Jewish preschool this year. We don't have a house yet (fingers crossed on the housing market opening up a bit) but are targeting Bethesda or Potomac-- hopefully Bethesda. We're looking for-- in order-- caring staff, a friendly community of families (tot shabbats, etc.) and lots of time for kids to play, especially outside.

Where should we be looking? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Temple Sinai Nursery School, if you end up close enough. Or Temple Emmanuel in Kensington.

If you’re in Bethesda, consider the Beth El preschool (and synagogue) on Old Georgetown Rd.

We are happy with Temple Emanuel - we're getting a new Cantor in July, so don't base any decisions on the current one

We have loved the EDCJCC in Dupont. Membership is included in tuition, which means we have access to the gym and all of the other things the JCC offers. I believe they start at 18 months and go through Prek-4. This is our second year and we have been thrilled with our teachers.

OP do NOT drive to Dupont Circle for preschool if you are looking in Bethesda. This PP is an idiot.

I've never heard of a synagogue around here that didn't meet your criteria. Find one that fits with your schedule, is your denomination, and is near your house. You don't want to drive more than 15 minutes for a preschool.

we're most likely going to enroll at Emanuel (also touring ohr kodesh and maybe beth el because beth el is closest but not reggio...)- does emanuel have any music component? my toddler really loves her music class and both ohr kodesh and jcc have someone for music time

You should look at Temple Shalom as well on East West Hwy.

We toured and really liked the ECC program at Washington Hebrew Congregation in Potomac (ultimately did not enroll due to cost).

We have a few friends at Beth El Preschool in Bethesda and they love it! Seems like a wonderful school and synagogue. We are thinking of starting there in the fall.
