Looking for a destination to spend 3-4 nights the first week of November celebrating anniversary and milestone birthday. We may have to bring our 7 and 10 year old children. Looking for somewhere they will have activities but we will also be able to enjoy and celebrate. Maybe a nice resort with some childcare available? Prefer to avoid hurricane hotspots. |
Resort with a children's club in November for 3-4 days that isn't hit by a hurricane? Not gonna happen. |
Aruba and Curacao are outside the hurricane belt, but that's pretty far to go for 3-4 days. |
+1
Most families we know who did 50th birthday trips did things like Florida, Costa Rica, Dominican. |
What about a resort like Salamander or Nemacolin? |
Sea island or Kiawah island |
mohonk mountain house but the kids club is only open on weekends at that time.
If you could go a little earlier, a cruise to new england or canada could work but I don't think they have any in November. |
Find a babysitter between now and November and pay her to stay with the kids for three nights. Pay her well. Your kids don't want to be dragged along if you don't want them there.
Otherwise, go to Puerto Rico and hire a babysitter there. I guess. |
OP here. It’s not that we don’t want our kids with us. We actually love traveling with them. For this trip we are open to a place we can have fun and explore together, but might hav some aspect of relaxation or parent only time. |
Pull them out of school and do a Disney or Royal Caribbean cruise if you want a reliable kids club. |
Primland can arrange babysitting through an area agency. It’s a nice option, especially since it sounds like you’re not looking to offload your kids all day everyday. And for 4 days, I think this is a great option, because it’s not a long drive. It’s my favorite part of Virginia, and there’s a lot to do as a family or as a couple. |
We really liked Caribbean Club in Grand Cayman when the kids were younger. It's a small condo hotel that's low key and has an excellent restaurant on the property. The condos are well-appointed and spacious. Through the concierge, we were able to book babysitters and get access to activities for kids at the Ritz, which is a short walk down the beach. |
+1. Anywhere below the hurricane belt is going to be a haul. That said, I’d probably just roll the dice with a Disney Cruise. They rarely get cancelled. Even if there is a random hurricane out there somewhere, they will just reroute you. |
