This is our first time in a school with a spring break that aligns with the spring break of the public schools. Tried poking around at plane tickets for traveling during that time period, and everything is crazy expensive, even to less popular destinations. For future planning purposes, when do you typically book plane tickets for spring break? As early as possible? |
This year is especially bad for prices because Easter, Passover, Orthodox Easter, Patriots Day, and Emancipation Day all line up. Which means seemingly most of the US and a lot of world will be taking holiday at the same time.
That said I'd still start thinking about spring break in the summer and looking at airfares in early fall, especially if looking to leave the country. |
Last summer. |
OP here, thanks, that's good to know. A bit of a struggle for us, as we typically fly Southwest, which doesn't release their schedules as far outas other airlines, but such is life. |
We booked our Southwest flights for spring break over the summer when they released the dates. Then we kept checking and the prices dropped and we were able to rebook for the lower price. Now the price has gone back up. It’s annoying to keep checking but I have saved $1-2k this way. |
The SW prices this year have been wildly expensive for the Carribean/warm weather places in April. |
|
We booked in October. I book our December travel in February.
At this point book what the budget allows or save for next year. |
I book Spring Break by Labor Day. I book summer trips by Christmas. I have both airline and hotel points, so I try to book ridiculously early. |
|
We fly SW too and we booked the day they opened their schedules for April, so in late September I think. |
I was looking a few months ago and most places I wanted to go were booked except for crazy expensive suites and flights were like $8000 so I’m guessing last May or so. |
The week before Easter is just always very expensive. We always book early and it’s still costing us double what the same city combo cost us in Oct. |
