Trying to see if Tampa/St Pete, Fort Myers, Naples, Clearwater are options for travel in March/April. Have they recovered from the hurricanes? Are hotels, restaurants etc. operational or are they still months away? Appreciate any updates before we start planning. TIA. |
Fort Myers/Sanibel is still in recovery. |
Naples is fine. Our friends live there. |
We are in Naples right now and everything is fine except for the pier that got wiped out 2 years ago. This years hurricanes were more damaging further up the coast from Fort Meyers to Tampa. |
Pinellas is ok. |
True. Not many restaurants/shops right on the beach have fully rebuilt. |
Went to St Pete Beach yesterday and it was gorgeous! |
Just got back from Tampa right before xmas. It was great. No signs of any issues, damage, etc…
We were there only 2 days as tail end of another trip. We were pleasantly surprised and liked it more than we thought. The riverwalk area and all the things along there is great. |
We were there for Thanksgiving visiting family and drove all through Madeira Beach/John’s Pass/Treasure Island etc. Pinellas is not OK. We had a hard time finding a restaurant on the beach road that was open. Some condos and hotels still hadn’t started repairs. |
What about Sarasota and/or Siesta Key? I know they got hit hard, but heard most things are back up, although many Siesta Key restaurants and beach businesses are still closed. Not totally sure about Sarasota? |
PP here. We're thinking of staying in Sarasota, if anyone is familiar enough what areas/neighborhoods would you recommend staying in? |
