My repair shop wants $900 for a tire and new rim because of a slightly bent rim. The car has a subtle vibrating at high speeds but not too bad yet.
I was wondering; could you just buy the rim and tire already on it and just put it on like you would on a flat tire? Thanks. |
| No |
| Most tire places sell replacement rims. Matching rims you’d probably have to get from a dealership or parts house. Then you buy the tire and get that mounted, or remount the existing tire if still good, get balanced and you’re done. |
Shop around online and have them shipped to another shop to install. I paid $27 each for installation of tires I bought online. |
| Maybe at tirerack.com |
| First of all, you need to replace two tires at the minimum to match the new tire. Also, depending on the make and model of the car, you should be able to pick one wheel up used. |
| There are shops that can straighten a bent rim for a couple hundred bucks. Just google it |

ifs it a common care, you should be able to find a used rim at any of the junk dealers online.
have thr im shipped to you. take rim to your prefered tire dealer and have them mount up a new tire on that rim and one of your others and ge tback in business. likley to be about 3-400 bucks all in. I would not reuse a tire that was on a wheel that got bent. since chances are the sidewall belts could have been damaged |
