If you were traveling in France for a week with kids what would be the one other home base you'd stay in France with kids? Besides Paris of course. |
What time of year? |
I want to go to Saint Malo. Lyon was nice. |
Spring maybe? |
I enjoyed a day in Provins. It's an old medieval fair town on a train line from Paris. It would be good for an overnight. Most people day trip it.
It's kid friendly. There is a falconry show and a knight show. |
Nice |
Loches - close to various Loire Valley chateaux. |
In spring I'd head south. Maybe somewhere like Aix-en-Provence or Saint-Remy-de-Provence. The hill towns in that area are beautiful but very small. Good to visit for half a day. |
My kid really liked Monet’s garden. But we had read children’s books about him and she liked to draw. |
This is not a village. Come on! |
Eze, villefranche sur mer |
What ages? Uses is close to a lot of day trips for the younger set. |
Child is 8. I keep seeing Uzès on blogs. Tell me about the day trips. |
Chinon! Adorable medieval town with easy access to the chateaux of the Loire Valley. Although the chateau in Chinon is mainly ruins, it’s still fun for kids to explore. |
Base out of Colmar and go to all the villages around Alsace (Eguishem, Riquewihr, Ribeauville, etc). |
