I enjoyed a day in Provins. It's an old medieval fair town on a train line from Paris. It would be good for an overnight. Most people day trip it.
It's kid friendly. There is a falconry show and a knight show. |

| In spring I'd head south. Maybe somewhere like Aix-en-Provence or Saint-Remy-de-Provence. The hill towns in that area are beautiful but very small. Good to visit for half a day. |

| Chinon! Adorable medieval town with easy access to the chateaux of the Loire Valley. Although the chateau in Chinon is mainly ruins, it’s still fun for kids to explore. |
