One Hundred Years of Solitude on netflix

It’s fabulous. They did such a great job. I have no words. The cast is perfect. Everyone! My favorite one is Rebecca. Cinematography is next level.

Good to know - will check this out - do you need a chart to follow all the different characters as I did for the book? Or was it easier to follow?

I read the book so long ago, I almost feel like I should re-read it to catch up.

I love the book so much that I'm afraid to watch it.

Both my DH and I read it one hundred years ago when we were teenagers but both of us thought the show was easier to follow. I don’t think you need the chart.

Is it in Spanish or English?

It's dubbed into English.

It's teh most expensive cinematic production ever undertaken in South America. They build the entire village (Macondo) for the series.

Can I see it with the $7.99 monthly payment or it costs extra? Book is too long for me.

Dear god. Just watch in Spanish with English subtitles.

This must be a generational thing, but I found the content disturbing and stopped watching it. I much prefer the upthreads about the Walton’s and Call the Midwives, more my speed.

It was gorgeous but the story is pretty out there. I remember trying to read the book and ended up not finishing it.

It's weird -- Netflix set the default to English dubbing for just this movie from what I can see. I watch foreign language movies all the tiem on Netflix and they default to native language + English subtitles. I would prefer it in Spanish (which I speak decently), but at first I just thought the audio was slightly out of sync and the whole thing was in English. By the time we realized, we had gotten used to the English voices so just stuck that way. The dubbing is very good.
