Do not tell me to buy a curling iron and watch YouTube and practice. No.
I am 42 and tired of my boring, straight hair. When I leave the salon with waves, I look younger and AMAZING. I know with even an ounce of effort, I would look better on a daily basis. What's EASIEST and works? Sleep curl things? $$$ Dyson? Thanks! |
| The Shark Flexstyle is less expensive than the Dyson and works well. I can’t curl with a curling iron but actually can do it with the shark. Just make sure you follow the instructions |

Your hairstylist may let you book a blow out and do a training for you. Mine offered to do this for my teen.
But I would say you may want to get an inexpensive curling wand (no clip like an iron) and a hot glove and try that. Conair ones are fine! When I had my hair drastically cut, I just ordered one in amazing that would arrive the quickest. With the wand, you wrap a section of your hair around it and hold for a few seconds. Having the hit tools glove cuts down on the fear factor! Use a heat protectant on your hair. |
| You should try the sleep curl thing before spending $$ on a shark flex style or Dyson air wrap. There’s a learning curve with all tools tbh. |
| If you’re walking out of the salon with amazing curls, then that’s where you need to go for information. No one here knows whether you have a natural curl pattern. But guess who does? Your hair stylist. The best advice you can get here is to book an appointment and ask for a tutorial on what products to use to get the look. |

Yes to Dyson.
I live in a very humid place, so don't use the AirWrap, but I do have the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer and it was a game changer for me. My hair is SO shiny and healthy. I resisted buying this for years. I used to believe that a hairdryer is a hairdryer, and feel smug as I purchased a $30 model. Then I was in the Dubai Mall with a friend who wanted the AirWrap, and they had a big demo section where a sales associate insisted on "blowing out" my hair with the Dyson while I waited for my friend. Wow. 5 minutes and it looked salon perfect, and I don't think the man who was doing it in the shop had any idea what he was doing. I will never be without my Dyson hairdryer again. And for you, OP, since you don't live somewhere super humid, I say get the AirWrap. |
nope. I guarantee I end up looking like shirley temple. Nope. I know myself after 40 years of having hair that this is hopeless. |

Try a Chi Spin and Curl.
|
| I use a wand, wrap loosely, then comb out and apply hair serum. It’s best done the night before so the curls fall. |
| Just get a wand- so easy |

No, to Dyson IME. Travelled with a friend who brought one, so we experimented. We use it one night (she had used it for years so I let her do my hair since I was a newbie), and the regular iron another night -- the Dyson is useless. Took longer, and for both of us the hair fell a lot faster. By the end of the night it looked like I hadn't curled my hair at all, whereas the waves held into the next day with the iron.
I do not get the appeal. |
This. Wands are the easiest. I got one of those things you sleep in for curls but they are so uncomfortable - I don’t know how people do it. |
What’s a wand? |
Yes. What’s a wand and which specific ones. I’d like to experiment but I’ve heard my hair is too fine for an Air Wrap. |
Basically a curling iron without the clamp. You wrap your hair around it. Don’t need to get fancy (especially if you’re not sure you’ll like it), the Remington one works great for me |
