Looking for recommendations for a family trip in April. Ideally somewhere that will be warm so we can swim (pool or beach is fine). We have a 4 year old, 2 year old and a current newborn who will be five months.
Open to any destinations really, but probably not Mexico. Have considered Florida, Arizona, California and/or Europe (Lisbon, Barca). Also open to Hawaii. Looking for specific family friendly hotels you have used (not suggestions for a destination more broadly). Thinking staying in the US will be easier for transportation, but not married to it. Thanks! |
I don’t think anywhere in the 48 is really warm enough for beach swimming in April except Florida.
In my experience, most posh hotel/resort situations are family-friendly. Four seasons, etc. But you will have to make choices on room layout that will be important. Are you bringing any help? Maybe you would rather be in a house/villa with a kitchen of some kind? |
Hyatt Regency Coconut Point
Swam in April, lovely property. |
And there is an on-site villa option that is booked directly via the Hyatt site, if you wish to go that route. I have to assume the main difference is lack of daily housekeeping. But everything is on one property. |
Breakers Palm Beach |
Where are you starting? With that age group and that many I would be making the transportation as short as possible and avoiding time changes. |
Come to 30a. Mid to end of April gets really really nice. This is a super family friendly place we stayed at before https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/753741471077418007?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76

People recommend Hawaii because it's so beautiful in an exotic way but you can buy American goods like diapers so easily on the ground when you get there.
I loved Hawaii when I was 5. Would recommend for little kids. |
Had actually been looking at 30a but my husband thinks it will be too cold the week of spring break - around April 12/19th ish. Thoughts? I have never spent much time in Florida so have no clue. |
It’s a long trip, though. Depending on how long OP is planning to stay it may not be worth it. |
Look at Naples FL which has a brand new Great Wolf Lodge.
This far south in Florida will be a definite guarantee the water will be warm but even if there is a spate of bad weather, you have the option of being indoors at GWL. |
We went to st Pete’s in April once and there was red tide. Just fyi. It was a a bummer. No swimming and noticeable air problems. |
Do you have help on the trip? That’s a lot with w a 5 month old. My almost 1 yr old is the greatest baby but an absolute sh*t sleeper in places that are not her crib at home. Vacations were rough 😬 |
I wouldn’t take kids as young as OP’s on a flight that long. |
I know you said no Mexico but it is a short flight, no time change, and very family friendly if you pick the right resort. |
