Is diamond coating worth it?

Purchasing a new car (Yukon XL) and the dealer is trying to sell me the Triton Diamond protective coating to help prevent against interior and exterior damage. He’s quoting me almost $3,000 for this. Worth it or total scam?

DH got some kind of coating but it wasn’t that much. FWIW I got stuck on a pole in a garage and didn’t scratch the car

That sounds dumb.

my husband had it done privately on his 2000 Bentley. Well worth it, but he shows the car. Cost a fraction of that

It’s a scam.

Scam.

Yup. Absolute scam at that price.

If you want to buy paint protection for your car, find a detailer later who specializes in this.

I always ask them if the factory coating is defective and that’s why I need an additional treatment.

Mazda once tried to sell me door drain grease because they said debris would get stuck in the holes and then water would collect in the doors. Obviously complete BS but I was all dramatic about the defect and that I wasn’t going to buy a car with a known problem. Sales person very quickly said yeah it wasn’t necessary, skipped the pressured sales of everything else and finished the deal quickly.

A 2000 Bentley is a “show car” For where? Haines Point on Sunday mornings?

Assuming it’s an Arnage or Azure, what’s it even worth now? Maybe $18-$20k, tops? A 10 year old Toyota Tacoma pick up truck is worth a lot more than a 2000 Bentley.

Not worth it.
