| DD is going to start public school in January. All she wants to wear is oversized hoodies and sweats. Is this what kids are wearing? |
| Yes. My kid wears a body suit under the hoody. Or swaps the hoody out for a chubky crppped swater. Sometimes she wears these flared or bootcut yoga pants. |
| Yes. It helps make the school less of a meat market. |
HS teacher here. Yes, the majority of kids wear hoodies/sweaters/tshirts and sweat/flannel/yoga pants. |
|
My DS wears dark sweat pants, dark long sleeved t shirts and sweatshirts. All shades of blue / green / black & grey, no logos, no patters, nothing printed, no stripes etc. Never wears shorts, thinks shorts are intrinsically "wrong"
My DD wears baggy jeans, a top / t shirt / blouse and a black sweatshirt. On hot days, shorts. |
| DD wears yoga pants or sweats, t-shirt, and hoodie (dropping hoodie on hot days). DS wears athletic pants, sweats, or shorts, t-shirt, and hoodie. |
| She’ll fit right in. Mine also used to wear pajama pants but her HS athletic director banned them for athletes so that stopped. She has since added in jeans. |
| I find the pj pant thing absolutely revolting. No one should be dressed like that outside the house. No one. |
| Yes. She rotates sweatpants, cotton t-shirt, hoodie. Very easy to get dressed in the morning, no clothing battles, full coverage, what's not to love?! |
This is mine but she also sometimes wear jeans — wide legged or flare, mid rise or low rise, light wash or grey. And some of the sweaters are not cropped but longer like I wore in the 80s, oversized. American Eagle, urban outfitters, Uniqlo type stuff. |

Pajama Chic - girls: oversized hoodie, sweatpants, yoga pants or flannel PJ pants. Ugg-like boots, clog-slipper or sneakers. Sometimes it’s all of the above except with a crop top and zip up hoodie not zipped. And those star or heart zit stickers with a side of lip gloss.
Boys: hoodie, athletic pants or sweatpants or flannel PJs, athletic shorts all year round, sneakers, graphic tshirt. headphones,No coat…never a coat. My 90s HS outfit of flannel, doc Martin, mom Jean, crop top with overalls, babydoll dresses and Steve Maddens looks downright formal compared to today’s HS kids. It’s kind of great. |
| Fashion has died |

No Lulu tank tops? My DD is starting in the fall and insists this is what all girls all wearing 🙄
The lower cut ones ofc |
Lulu tank tops (and shorts) are popular in spring/summer.
|
Yes. This is what mine wears on a good day. (Many days, it's pajama pants and a sweatshirt.). Leggings (at our school, expensive leggings like lululemon are also popular). Jeans are also common, but why endure the discomfort of denim when you can wear flannel??) Sweatshirts can be anything but college sweatshirts are generally popular. |
