Good morning. My sibling and his family are most likely purchasing a home in the RCV neighborhood. Can anyone share some feedback on the school, staff, etc? Thank you!!

I had 2 of my kids go to Rock Creek Valley and eventually graduate at Rockville High School. RCV was a really great school for both of my kids at the time. When my older son was in the 5th grade, we really enjoyed having one of the former principals there at the school. Unfortunately, she moved and we had a new principal. The problem I had with the newer principal was because he was trying to get some of the special education students to leave RCV and assign them to other elementary schools closer to them.

I heard one parent at the time when this happened was upset and then they tried to file a lawsuit with the principal at the time which also included them to hire a lawyer. Their kid was supposed to go to another elementary school somewhere in Olney (I assume from the Sherwood cluster), and their kid even didn't want to leave their home school. I don't know what else happened to them, but I can quite remember that their kid also graduated from RHS a few years ago.

Is this about Ms. Henriquez? Even though she's no longer there, I never heard about her doing that and my kid use to go to Rock Creek Valley too.

I have friends with kids currently there. They seem very happy with the school and it seems like a close knit community.

No, that was years before Henriquez became principal.

Relooking at the old At a Glance reports. I’m assuming it’s Kevin Burns, did he retire or is at a new school?

My kids went to RCV a while ago. We were so upset when Mr. Burns left (he moved to another school closer to home during Covid). The community loved him.

Ms. Jasperse was better than the other 3 after she left RCV.

So she was better than the next 3 after she left? Lol. Well since she hasn't been principal there for over 11 years, I think it's time to move on and support our current RCV school community. We are thankful for all our current and previous staff at RCV.

Wouldn’t be surprised that people said shes been the best one yet, after all she did win an award that honors her excellency as an administrator/principal for MCPS back in 2011. My DS was in RCV when she was principal and we were really close friends with her back then. It was unfortunate for her to leave the school back in 2015 when Mr. Burns then took over. He was a decent principal as best as I could say, but I understand why a lot of other RCV parents liked him. I don’t know much about Ms. Henriquez or the new principal because my youngest kid graduated when Burns was still principal back in 2018.
