I can barely focus or get through the day. My energy levels are at an absolute low. Only 8 weeks pregnant, does it get easier?! |
First trimester is so exhausting!!! Avail yourself of the max caffeine and take as many naps as feasible. I have never been as tired as I was in first trimester. For me it got better around 14/15 weeks. |
Can you go back on meds? The perinatal mental health clinic at Georgetown has an entire set of people whose job is talking about and prescribing psych meds in pregnancy to women whose regular psychiatrists panicked and took them off everything. |
First trimester is terrible for many people. I don't normally have focus problems and it was all like listening to Charlie Browns teacher all day. I got into the habit of carrying around a notepad and writing down everything. I then crashed at night. Give yourself some grace and thankfully it is the holidays so there hopefully is a slower work pace.
This is the beginning of the changes to your life. You will not live the same life you did before, and that’s okay. |
It does get easier. The first trimester is painfully hard for many people. |
I drank max amount of caffeine throughout both my pregnancies and both of my kiddos are fine! Coffee saved me during my first trimester. Also lots of water and mints |
This is an excellent point re the changes. It does get better, but then it gets worse, and then it gets better again, etc etc. It will be worth it, though! |
Try light therapy…a sun lamp is a lifesaver for me during the dark months. I do have SAD, clearly—without a lamp I can’t function, my fatigue gets worse and worse and no amount of caffeine can touch it. But I think it is beneficial for many people. And I was diagnosed with SAD shortly after giving birth to my first born, fwiw. |
