Do you pull bangs back for forehead thermometer?

Probably a dumb question, but do you pull your kids bangs back/out of the way when you take their temperature with a forehead thermometer?

Also look at the directions on the thermometer. Some tell you to apply it directly to the skin and others tell you to point it at the skin. Either way I'd move hair out of the way though.

Yes and I wait a few second before scanning cause I get a higher temp when bangs were recently down. I know that sounds ridiculous but it’s true. Bangs up, wait 10 seconds, scan.

I have three boys who actually each have very different hair types and hairstyles. The weirdest thing is that two of them show a much higher temperature unless I wait a minute or so after pulling their hair back. Not the best place. Even if you move the hair, being as the forehead has been covered for an extended time, it will read warmer than actual temp. If they have bangs, try the temple if it isn’t covered

I haven’t used a forehead thermometer since our daycare had us use one before accepting kids during the height of the pandemic, when the pediatric vaccine was available and kids were back in schools. They were super inaccurate then and I have no idea why anyone would use them at home.

I don’t think it matters, OP. That’s how inaccurate they are! Just whatever if you’re going to use one. What is the point?
