Planning a trip this summer with older kids and considering Belize. Want a mix of beach and activities. Please share any good/bad experiences and recs. |
Belize really doesn't have beaches, except for a few down south.
Spend a few days on Caye Caulker - go snorkeling/diving. Rent a house with a pool. Take a trip out to the Blue Hole. Spend time up in the jungle - San Ignacio. Tour Mayan Ruins, go kayaking. Take a day trip to Guatemala to Tikal. |
Cave tubing, Mayan ruins, snorkeling, |
Do you want to source the activities yourself or a resort that runs them? This is a good one that includes many of the activities - https://www.cavesbranch.com/
We didn’t do the beach but others in our group continued on to house rentals on the beach. It’s absolutely a thing in Belize - not sure why other posters say it isn’t. |
NP here. Many of the beaches in Belize, especially on Ambergris Key, are plagued by sea grass, making it unpleasant to swim from the shore. |
Lamanai Outpost lodge for a few nights and then any hotel near San Ignacio for a few nights. |
